Charize Hortmann is a paralegal in the firm’s Miami office. She is licensed to practice law in Brazil and has a Master of Laws in U.S. Law from the University of Florida. In Brazil, Charize was as a public defender and later specialized in complex civil litigation.

Charize volunteers with the environmental NGO Canteiros Coletivos, which implements agroforestry gardens in low-income communities in Salvador, in the state of Bahia, Brazil. She is also an author. Her book Artificial Intelligence in the Labor Market examines the impact of emerging technologies on the job market and labor relationships. She has written several book chapters and academic papers, including her contribution to Concepts and Dialogues across Shifting Spaces in Intercultural Business, published by Cambridge, which has received multiple book prizes at European book fairs. Since 2020, she has also been a member of the research group at the United Nations Research Institute for Social Development (UNRISD), collaborating on international reports on environmental compliance.

In her spare time, Charize likes to read books, spend time with her dog, Zito, hike, and practice yoga.
